In equipment design, structural engineering and engineering analysis, professionals
often need to have some specific information on steel material properties such as
heat treatment details, properties on low and elevated temperatures, and fatigue data.
Fast access to this information is usually essential to complete engineering tasks
successfully and efficiently, and this is exactly what Key to Steel gives you.
For example, fatigue data are very expensive and hard to find, and cost of
getting one set of fatigue data is estimated to approximately $3000.
Uniquely worldwide, Key to Steel Database provides
you some 200 exclusive datasets, which cover more than 150 steel designations.
Moreover, by using cross-reference tables, you can estimate fatigue
properties of additional 1000 alloys, thus covering most important
group of steel grades worldwide.

Step 1: Choosing a search option
|
In this example, suppose that for analyzing a part of dynamic (possibly automotive)
structure you want to review fatigue data of all steels specified by SAE standard
(US Society for Automotive Engineering).
To select materials by special properties, you are using Special Search
check boxes in the Advanced Search module.
| |
Step 2: Defining search criteria
|
To define the search criteria, all you have to do is to select
SAE/USA from the Country pop-up list and to check Fatigue Data box,
situated in the Special Search group in the lower part of the window.

When you click Submit button, Key to Steel search
engine will in a few seconds select all SAE steels which contain
fatigue data and display them in the list.

| |
Step 3: Viewing material properties
|
To view properties of some specific material from the list,
click on its designation, and follow the usual procedure,
as described in Tour 1. | |
Step 4: Getting fatigue data
|
To get fatigue data from within Material Properties window,
simply click Fatigue Data link, positioned in the
More Properties group. As a result, you can see all available
fatigue properties for selected material.
